Funding your trading account via mobile money (French-speaking Africa)

Orange Money, Wave, MTN, Moov: how to fund your trading account from French-speaking Africa, fees, withdrawal safety, and how to avoid common scams.

In French-speaking Africa, many traders don't have an international bank card — but do have a mobile money account. Good news: most popular MetaTrader 5 brokers now accept Orange Money, Wave, MTN MoMo, Moov Money and others. Here's how it works, concretely and carefully. Adestto AI is a publisher, not a broker.

How a mobile money deposit works

Generally, two cases:

  • Directly with the broker: in the "Deposit" area, you choose "Mobile money", enter your number and amount, and confirm via the operator's USSD code or app. The trading account is credited within minutes.
  • Via a local payment processor (aggregator): the broker goes through an intermediary that converts your mobile money deposit into account balance.

Withdrawal follows the reverse path: you request a withdrawal to your mobile money number.

Points of vigilance (important)

  • Fees: there may be operator and/or processor fees. Check the real cost before depositing small amounts often (fees eat into small capital).
  • Currency: your local-currency deposit is converted (often to USD). The conversion rate matters.
  • Withdrawals first: before depositing big, make a small test withdrawal. A broker that complicates withdrawals is a major warning sign.
  • The right recipient: never deposit to the personal number of an "agent" or coach who promises to trade for you. Always use the broker's official channel.

Beware scams (very common)

Mobile money is also the playground of scammers. Beware of:

  • Someone asking you to send money to a personal number to "double your capital" or "trade for you".
  • Groups promising guaranteed gains against a deposit — no one can guarantee a return.
  • "Brokers" with no verifiable regulation. See how to choose a serious MT5 broker.

Simple rule: your money must stay in YOUR account, with a regulated broker, controlled by you alone. A bot or a signal should never have access to your withdrawals.
